Caracas – The City Protected By Magnificent Green Mountain Ranges

The capital city of Venezuela is Caracas, a busy metropolitan area sitting in a gorgeous valley. There are many things that make Caracas a favorite vacation spot, with just a few being the yummy food, the cosmopolitan population, and the unique (but perfect) weather that comes with living at a high elevation so close to the Caribbean Sea. If you are planning a vacation to Caracas, it’s important that you get a passport first, and you can get expedited new passports online.

Americans Will Need A Passport

Online passport services make it easy to address any passport problems you might have. One of the most common is damaged passports. If a passport is too damaged, a customs agent can deny you from boarding the plane. Worse of all, there are no set limits or guidelines to how much damage is acceptable. That being said, if there is any doubt, go online and have your damaged passport replaced.

Ciudad Universitaria de Caracas

Caracas is home to a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Ciudad Universitaria de Caracas. This university campus was designed by the most famous architect in Venezuela, Carlos Raul Villanueva, and is considered an architectural masterpiece. The campus also features works of art by several other artists, and simply exploring the campus on foot is a great way to spend the day.

National Pantheon

The National Pantheon is considered by many residents to be the most meaningful building in all of the Caracas. Before it was the burial place for Venezuela’s most influential citizens, it was a church. Now it’s the resting place of the famous visionary and national hero, Simon Bolivar. Simon Bolivar was the man who led several Central and South American countries to independence against the Spanish, including Venezuela. Afterwards, he created a union of independent countries he called Gran Colombia. While you’re in the area, check out Plaza Bolivar, another interesting and historically relevant place to explore.

Museo de Arte Contemporaneo

There are quite a few museums in Caracas, and the Museo de Arte Contemporaneo is considered to be one of the best, both in the city and in South America. Inside is artwork by some of the most famous artist of all time: Picasso, Matisse, Miro, and more. The Galería de Arte Nacional is another popular museum. It houses more than 4000 pieces of Venezuelan art spanning its entire history. This museum shares a building with the Museo de Bellas Artes, which features art from all around the world.

Avila National Park

Another consistently loved the thing to do in Caracas is take a trip to Avila National Park, located to the north of Caracas. You can take a cable car to the top of Mt. Avila to absorb the spectacular views. It’s a good option for those who want to experience the natural side of Venezuela, and there are other options as well. For example, the Parque del Este is a low-key park that also contains a small (but good) zoo and a planetarium. Another spot is the Jardin Botanico, which was started in 1944. There are more than 2000 plants in the gardens.

This busy urban center surrounded by beautiful natural landscapes provides for an excellent city vacation experience. If you plan on visiting, start by getting your expedited new passports online. If you are faced with the problem of damaged U.S. passports, remember they can be replaced online as well.
